TEAM TAILWINDS is a local community cycling team comprised of a diverse group of athletes from the Santa Maria and Central California Coast area. Team Tailwinds is a member of the United States Cycling Federation (USCF), which is the governing body of bicycle racing throughout the United States. Over the past 15 years, Team Tailwinds has grown from an eight rider team in its first season to over 40 members. Our team includes Masters, Women, and Category 2, 3, 4, and 5 racers.We train and ride together year round on the weekends. During racing season, we participate in practice crit races on Tuesday evenings and ?hammer? rides on Thursday evenings. For more specific info, take a look at the Calendar.

Membership dues for the 2008 season is $125 and includes a jersey, shorts - bibs or regular, socks or gloves, and race reimbursement for races on our team calender and is based on available funds. What do we do?

Team members participate in many races throughout California. The team participated in over 50 races this year and had more than 70 finishes in the top 3 places. Team Tailwinds is also responsible for bringing the Vandenberg Air Force Base Stage Race to the Central Coast in 1997, and 1998. This event was held in conjunction with the National Military Championships and drew riders from across the United States. The 1999 race was also host to the State Time Trial Championships. In 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006 we held the Senior State Road Race Championships.
